Eli Epstein-Deutsch’s work experience includes serving as a Senior Consultant at Epiphany Manhattan Academy July 2015. From September 2018 to July 2022, they worked as the Director at Epiphany Manhattan Academy. Prior to that, they founded and held the position of Producing Director at Samadhi Arts since 2015.Additionally, they worked as a Researcher at PERFORMA from December 2014 to June 2015 and as an Arts Reviewer at Village Voice from 2008 to 2012. Eli Epstein-Deutsch completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Comparative Literature at Swarthmore College from 2006 to 2010. Following that, they pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Drama at Yale University from 2013 to 2014.

A dual graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Physics from the National University of Ireland and Northeastern University, Brian has cultivated a deep understanding of the rigorous academic standards required by elite institutions. Brian has successfully coached hundreds of students, helping them achieve the necessary admission criteria and crafting compelling applications. His expertise extends to essay preparation, resume writing, and navigating the complexities of the Common App and UCAS application processes..

Chris Avrich, an MIT graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics, leads our Mathematics and Computer Science departments. A Stuyvesant High School alumnus and member of Eta Kappa Nu, Chris’s expertise spans from Pre-Algebra to Multivariable Calculus and Computer Science. With over five years of teaching experience across various academic levels, his abilities in preparing students for various standardized tests, including the SHSAT, SAT, and ACT, is invaluable for our students’ success. Drawing from his own background at one of New York City’s most competitive high schools and his achievements at MIT, Chris brings both technical expertise and firsthand knowledge of what it takes to excel in challenging academic environments.

Byunhyun Oh is a current Columbia University business student serving as associate director at Ephiphany Manhattan Academy. Byunhyun’s experience spans several sectors ranging from his work as founder and chief researcher of Mental Wellness Monitor to his work serving as an advisor for iGEM, an international global biotech start-up competition. Byunhyun also has extensive experience as an SAT/ACT tutor. Byunhyun is passionate about mentoring students and helping them achieve their college aspirations.

Kevin brings valuable insight from his academic journey at Columbia University, where he studied Philosophy and English Literature. A graduate of the New Music School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Kevin combines his diverse educational background with extensive hands-on experience with extracurricular activity list building. Kevin has particular expertise in organizing and mentoring students in prestigious activities including Model United Nations, iGEM competitions, and impactful nonprofit initiatives. His comprehensive approach helps students develop well-rounded profiles that stand out in competitive college applications.

Jamie Lee, currently attending the School of Visual Arts, is the Assistant Director of our Art Studio. Her passion for art, combined with her aspirations to become an art therapist, brings a unique perspective to her role, enriching the artistic journey of our students.

Hobong Kim, a graduate of Hongik University and NYU’s Studio Art program, is our esteemed Art Director. With awards in major art competitions in Korea and experience in exhibitions in New York and New Jersey, Hobong excels in guiding students in portfolio building, evidenced by their awards in major art contests.

English Composition and Creative Writing Instructor

Vanessa Ehler, with an M.A. from Middlebury College in Spanish Linguistics and a B.A. in Spanish Language, has a rich background in teaching English as a second language and Spanish. Her experience in China, Ecuador, and Mexico, coupled with a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, enriches her language teaching with cultural depth and expertise.

Originally from Barcelona, Spain, Mercedes Blanco, certified in Spanish Language Superior Teaching, brings a unique blend of science and language education. With degrees in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering, and experience teaching science and Spanish literature since 2007, Mercedes offers a comprehensive and diverse teaching approach.
